You might be wondering “can dogs eat goji berries?” and the answer is “yes!” My Goji Berries Superfood Energy Bites for Dogs are the perfect combination of simple and nutritious. Plus, they’re meant to be shared with us humans, which makes them even more super!
I get really obsessed with my writing and plant-based diet formulations, and sometimes I can look up and it’s already late in the afternoon and I’ve forgotten to eat (don’t worry, I make up for it with dinner)!
Most days, I just don’t have the time or desire to prepare anything elaborate for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes, even dirtying my blender to whip up a smoothie seems like too much work.
Enter Superfood Energy Bites. These are little “balls” of goodness that contain all wholesome, nutrient-dense ingredients. I can just reach into the fridge, grab a bit and I’ve done something good for myself nutritionally.
So I decided to start creating my own versions of Superfood Energy Bites for Dogs. After all, why should we humans have all the fun?
These Goji Superfood Energy Bites for Dogs provide both quick energy from dates, maple syrup as well as sustained energy from almond butter. They’re great to take along on hikes, long walks or anytime your dog needs a wholesome, healthy snack.
Plus, they’re gluten-free (be sure to use gluten-free oats), free of refined sugar, bursting with nutrients and delicious!
These Goji Superfood Energy Bites for Dogs have it all going on:
- Oats are packed with vitamins, minerals and disease-fighting antioxidants. They’re also packed with beta-glucan, a soluble fiber that’s heart healthy, stabilizes blood sugar and boosts good bacteria in the gut.
- Sweet potato is packed with antioxidants and healthy fiber.
- Goji berries are rich in antioxidants and even contain eight of the essential amino acids. They may even help prevent the growth of cancer cells.
- Carob is safe, nutritious and delicious for dogs! It contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, is caffeine-free and is even used as a natural remedy to treat diarrhea.
- Dates are rich in natural sugars, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and healthy fiber.

- 2 organic medjool dates, if stiff, soak for about 30 minutes in hot water and drain the liquid
- 1 TB water, or more if needed
- 1/4 cup organic goji berries, Soak in hot water for a few minutes to soften and make them more digestible. You can also grind them into the mixture if necessary. I use Sunfood brand.
