Brief Background

Diana Laverdure-Dunetz, MS is pioneering the world of plant-based dog nutrition. She boldly breaks from the “pack” to unravel common dog nutrition myths and dives into the science behind what’s really the best type of diet for modern companion dogs. A former meat-based fresh dog food formulator, Diana transformed her canine nutrition practice in 2018 as the result of a perfect marriage of epiphanies: 1) the realization that companion dogs can benefit from plant-based foods as humans do and 2) the understanding that the way we feed our canine companions (and ourselves) is unnecessarily harming other animals and the planet.

Diana found the perfect solution with plants. Now, she helps canine clients all over the world prevent, manage and heal from a myriad of canine chronic diseases, including chronic kidney and liver disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, bladder stones, food intolerance and cancer.

In 2023, Dogwise Publishing released Diana’s groundbreaking book, The Plant-Powered Dog: Unleash the healing powers of a whole-food plant-based diet to help your canine companion enjoy a healthier, longer life. The book draws upon hundreds of studies illustrating the links between animal ingredients and diseases in both animals and people, and demonstrates that dogs are omnivores who are perfectly able – and adapted – to thriving on nutritionally sound plant-based diets.
